Controversy Surrounds Egg Donations Written by Marissa Beechuk on March 26, 2006 Fertility clinics and brokers are raising the stakes again for eggs sold by college women with brains and beauty.

These women are also desperate for money.

Campus advertisements in The Daily Californian at the University of California, Berkeleyread daily: "Egg donors needed.

$10,000," according to USA Today.

Applicants must be under 29, good-looking, and have SAT scores above 1300.

Jesse Reynolds of the Center for Religious Studies professor at John Carroll University Paul Lauritzen said that most women aren’t aware of the side effects, some as severe as death.

He said there is also substantial evidence that there is a correlation between egg donation and infertility in women later in life.

Besides the medical consequences of this practice, Lauritzen pointed ...

So Williams eagerly enrolled her 90-year-old mother last year in a massive, 1,600-patient, 18-month clinical trial testing an experimental drug made by the Utah-based biotechnology company Myriad The drug, called Flurizan, slowed the mind-robbing disease in some of the 128 patients with mild Alzheimer's participating in a smaller test.

Healthy baby can be thin baby (genetics news)

...Your child’s doctor is your best resource here.

She can make sure your baby isn’t sick and decide if any tests are necessary.

If she does think your baby needs to gain weight, there are a few things you can do: If you’re breastfeeding, do your breasts feel full if your child goes a few hours without nursing?

If not, you may not be producing enough milk for her nutritional needs, even if she seems satisfied after nursing.

Talk to your doctor or a lactation consultant about ways to boost your supply and whether supplementing it with formula makes sense.

If your child takes formula, ask your pediatrician whether giving the baby a higher concentration — which has more calories — is a good idea.

At eight months, your baby can begin to eat more table foods, so think about adding higher-calorie items like meat and pasta to her diet.

Even just mixing in some butter with her vegetables can make a difference.
